Report from the CWS Auction Front! What a lively, exciting, lovely evening we had on March 28, for the Community and World Service Annual Dinner and Auction. There were so many generous donation items -- far too many to list -- and we had a wonderful attendance!
Kudos to Auctioneer Richard Horvitz who did a magnificent job of promoting our eclectic selection of items, ranging from flying lessons to tickets to Dancing with the Stars to the ridiculously entertaining curiosity -- the vintage electro-shock machine (visitors to the MacDonald household, beware). Kudos also to our chef extraordinaire, the tireless Maddy Smyers and her amazing behind-the-scenes team for a delicious chicken en croute dinner. The best compliment overheard all night was that "it didn’t taste anything like a church dinner!" Our thanks go also to those church members who jumped in to help: Diane Delaney, Margaret Goodwin, Gail Haney, Faye Harris, Bill and Maryam Jonas, Jane Poole, Sarah Trump and her Merry Band of Pilgrim Fellows. And to our evening’s performers: Lisa Blodgett, Lorraine Finke, Greg Jasperse, John Luker, Susan Luker, Jen Malenke, and Greg Whipple. And special thanks to our honorary Board Member Judy Elder, who created a delightful set on stage that set the tone for the evening, in addition to providing her producing and directing skills in helping plan and guide the evening’s events. Please know that if we’ve omitted acknowledging anyone here, it is simple exhaustion, and no slight is intended. And know that your contributions and auction purchase mean that the CWS Board can continue to support those worthy non-profit organizations that do such good works.
